The Coordinated Election is November 4. For in person voting and ballot drop off locations visit Park County Elections.

We support both state-wide issues, LL and MM, which address funding for the Healthy School Meals for All Program created by voters in 2022 through Prop FF. Prop LL would allow the state to keep and spend $12.4 million in tax revenue and interest already collected under Prop FF. Prop MM would raise up to an additional $95 million in 2026 and future years by increasing income taxes on households earning $300,000 or more. Additionally the funds would support SNAP—the federal food stamp program recently slashed by Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill. These issues can be further researched in the “Colorado Bluebook,” recently mailed to all voters.

The “White Book” examines our local issues. Ballot Issue 1A proposes increasing the Park County Lodging Tax by 4 %. Added to the existing 2% lodging tax, this increase would raise income primarily from visiting tourists who use Short Term Rental lodging. “This tax ensures that the costs of increased tourism are shared by those who visit and use our services, not by Park County residents. It is a responsible way to strengthen critical infrastructure, improve public safety, and support emergency services, all while protecting the quality of life for our community.” Supporters emphasize that this tax will be paid by our visitors, not by county residents or business owners.

The Platte Canyon School District lists four candidates for three open positions on its Board of Education: Jillian Heisler, Heather Linne-Speidel, Ryan Cantu and Kathy Puseman. You can examine the positions of each of these candidates at vote411 The League of Women Voters posed questions to all four and you’ll find their answers in the voters guide. The LWV Park County recorded an online forum which you can view HERE. We appreciated hearing from Jillian Heisler and Kathy Puseman and both seemed to put the best interests of the school and students first.

Ballot Issue 6A concerns residents of the Lake George Fire Protection District; Ballot Issue 6B concerns voters in the Como-Jefferson Fire Protection District. Local sources of information would serve you best in deciding these issues.

While this is an “off year” election, voting is still very important. We are warming up for the 2026 midterms, when we will also have our county official positions up for election. Please educate yourself and vote early—make a plan!
